COBWEB, MOTH & MUSTARDSEED

Peter Knight’s latest recording for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The music was commissioned for the newly opened woodland walk at Anne Hathaway’s cottage. So like the music I looked at creating something to reflect this sense of history with lingering memories and brooding moods that woods and ancient forest resonate.

I was approached by Lecturer Paul Parsons at South Downs College to create an image with the theme of Heroes and used my own teenage hero as a starting point alongside paying a playful homage to old 80’s metal album covers. Ride on!

Subzero for Yum brands.

Client brief: To create fun filled images aimed at the youth market, reflecting a feeling of west and east coast america….with hints of the taco brand. To work alongside the new interior re-branding 2012-2013.

marrs sez: I had the challenge of creating one large image that taco then wanted to take 8 sections from, to control this concept a little more i suggested i’d make separate images that can work together and be displayed in any order. The whole job was conceived and completed in less than 12 days. Some busy days and nights had. Looking forward to some burrito action next time i’m stateside.

Once i get interior shots, i’ll post them : )

Mopar are celebrating 75 years supplying automobile parts and specialised servicing along with customising Chrysler cars, adding power and extra muscle.

Passion Pictures :

Having worked previously worked with Chris Curtis on the Audi advert there was an immediate understanding and trust. We quickly set a mood and the style for the advert, something the client believed in early on.

I helped with the initial pitch and edit and then once the advert content was selected continued to develop the illustration style and compositions for each frame. Then helped Art Direct working alongside Chris and the team at Passion to breath some life into my essentially flat images.

For a 30 second advert it certainly has some punch and reflects the Muscle and specialism Mopar were looking for.

Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster!!!

Feeling very lucky to have had the opportunity to illustrate the cover of Legendary Science Fiction classic Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. Having grown up during the 1980’s i was familiar with the T.V series and particularly the character Zaphod Beeblebrox. With this in mind and the strong identity the book and the show had, I set out to make an image that was subtle and suggestive, without using too many science fiction cliches. Humma Kavula !!!!

Marrs for Bentley: Inspired by the GTC

To mark the launch of the new Continental GTC, Bentley asked six up and coming artists to commission an exclusive piece of art.

A fun commission i worked on two days before i went on holiday, the deadline was tight, but the final out come worked out well. The image had to get across the theme Exhilarating.The image is to be used for point of sale in-store and direct mail.

Wire magazine: review on Gigspanner’s new Album

“The delicately evocative montage of Tim Marrs’ cover artwork for both releases reflects this fine music perfectly, a tracery of memories and imaginings yet robust enough to accommodate the image of a bottle-opener, that practical seal of folky camaraderie alluded to by the group’s name”.

This is the latest Album from Gigspanner a band formed by Peter Knight ( legendary folk violinist and member of Steeleye Span and former neighbour of mine ) I’ve worked with Peter before on their previous release and was excited to have the chance to work with the band again and catch up over a few warm beers.

I enjoy working on these kind of projects as it often allows you to explore different styles of work and more experimental approaches to compliment the music and the story telling in each of the tracks. I’m lucky that Peter and the fellow band members trusted me and gave me great freedom to create. The end product had to capture an element of the live music experience and sit happily as an object alongside the previous album…. i think that was roughly the starting brief i had. Well worth a listen, beautifully crafted and evocative, a little like the album artwork ; )
